Pfarrkirchen, Germany, 29/07/2020 – FarmFacts GmbH has expanded its NEXT Farming farm management platform to include an integrated online marketplace. Smart farming specialist FarmFacts GmbH is the first in the industry to combine farm management with agricultural supplies procurement, creating process efficiency and simplicity for farmers and retailers that was previously lacking when buying and selling these products.
Through the NEXT Marketplace commerce platform, farmers can now obtain quotes from different providers and close sales and supply deals straight from their farm management system. In the first phase of the launch, NEXT Marketplace will be opened up to FarmFacts customers in the German states of Saxony and Thuringia to buy mineral fertilisers. Further down the line, the platform will be expanded to included additional products, such as seed and plant protection agents, as well as additional regions. “The pressure for change within farming affects the entire industry – from individual farmers to cooperatives and agricultural traders. NEXT Marketplace is an extension of the modular NEXT Farming software system and is free to use by farmers. Via the marketplace, users automatically reach all the participating retailers that deliver in their area in just one enquiry – even outside of normal opening hours. Use of the platform is also free for sellers. Sales commission is only due once a transaction is completed.
Farmers save time and effort in purchasing supplies as a result of the innovative bidding process and transparency the marketplace offers. For smaller retailers, using NEXT Marketplace means they don't have to invest in additional digital tools or their own platform, and retailers of all sizes can increase their marketing efficiency, enabling them to pass on the resulting price advantage to customers on the platform.
NEXT Farming customers currently farm over four million hectares and use the platform to plan and document their inputs as well as their agronomic optimisation measures. “Purchasing supplies is part of farm management, so connecting both these activities on a digital platform was the logical next step.
