TalkingFields maps
TalkingFields maps are a joint product of Vista Geowissenschaftliche Fernerkundung GmbH and FarmFacts GmbH. As a company, Vista has been collecting satellite imagery around the world for many years to gather information on biomass, locations and yields.
Complex mathematical and evaluation models enable the data to be evaluated and processed to produce TalkingFields maps. These maps provide you with precise information on your fields’ soil parameters.
We can supply you with this data via NEXT Farming Live to support you in increasing your operational efficiency.
The TalkingFields maps are available as a TF Basic Map (shows differences in biomass distribution within a single field), TF Zone Map (divides the field into similar/identical zones to the soil samples), TF Yield Potential Map (provides information on the anticipated yield potential for the field crop when optimally supplied with nutrients and when prevailing climate conditions are taken into consideration), TF Biomass Map (maps the biomass distribution within a field 4 times a year in t/ha for WW, WB, WOSR, maize, SB), TF Yield Map (provides the absolute yield level on 20 x 20 m for WW, WB, WOSR, maize, SB) and TF Yield Forecast (shows the site-specific yield forecast from 4 weeks before harvest time for WW, WB, WOSR, maize, SB).
TalkingFields Satellite Remote Sensing Data
The TalkingFields (TF) Basic Map is created by evaluating multiple years of satellite data geostatistically in order to exclude the influence of weather and different crop types. With statistical assurance, it indicates constant, relative biomass differences, which can be used as a decision-making basis for site-specific farming. The TF Basic Map can be used as a basis for creating large-scale, reliable prescription maps for sowing, fertilisation or even plant protection.
The TF Yield Potential Map provides information on the anticipated yield potential of a specific crop type when optimally supplied with nutrients and taking into account the prevailing local soil and climate conditions, without any additional irrigation. It shows the maximum yield a specific crop type can achieve at the location in question due to its specific properties (e.g. soil type/texture) and the prevailing temperature, rainfall and radiation. The TF Yield Potential Map provides absolute values in t/ha for the selected crop type, which also makes the fields directly comparable.
The TF Yield Forecast provides a localised yield forecast two to four weeks before the targeted harvest date. Weather forecasts and long-term weather observations integrated into the plant growth model enable the harvest yield to be accurately estimated in ample time before the harvest date. The method was tested as part of multi-year trial series and verified using extensive localised measurements for wheat, maize and sugar beet crops.
